In Memoriam

Sadly on October 9, 2008 our dear colleague and friend Mr. Allan Partridge unexpectedly passed away. Allan joined the mechanical engineering program in October 2004. As a machine shop foreman and a senior laboratory engineer he was responsible for building the state-of-the-art ME machine shop. In addition to managing the ME machine shop, Allan taught machine shop and welding classes and provided valuable service to the departmental research needs.  His love for teaching and the excellent relationship he had with his students made the ME machine shop course one of the most popular courses in the department. Prior to joining the PI, Allan spent over 10 years at various educational institutions in the Middle East. In addition, he had 25 years experience lecturing in mechanical engineering at Wigan College of Technology in England, where he attained the position of Deputy Head of Department in mechanical and production engineering. His passing was a great loss to the ME department and the PI community. He will be greatly missed. Allan is survived by his wife, Sheila, and daughters Sarah and Joanne.
