STUDENT ACCOMMODATION

The Petroleum Institute provides accommodation and services for its students to ensure that its social, cultural and educational goals are met. The Housing Section constitutes one of the units of the PI and is governed by its administration. It is responsible for the allocation of students to Housing buildings and rooms in accordance with the accommodation regulations and availability. The progress of its affairs is monitored via PI regulations and amendments.

Accommodation assistance is provided free to students registered at PI studying full time to obtain a scientific degree. In order for the student to be accepted at the Housing, the following conditions must be met:

  • He should be a student from outside Abu Dhabi city and its suburbs.
  • He must undertake in writing to abide by the rules and regulations of the institute, especially the Housing regulations.
  • To abide by any other condition stipulated by the Student Affairs Division.

Students residing in Abu Dhabi can apply for accommodation at the Housing under special circumstances, to be decided by the Hostel Officer. Student interns can also avail of accommodation assistance at the Housing.

The PI has six Hostel Buildings to provide accommodation for its students. At present, the hostels can accommodate up to 600 students. The hostels have single and double rooms, and allotment of students to these rooms is the decision of the Hostel Officer, who heads the Housing section. As student intake increases in the coming years, more hostel buildings will be constructed to meet the accommodation requirements of the students.

The Hostel Officer is assisted by Housing Assistants and a Housing Supervisor for the hostels.
Room allotments can be changed with the permission of the Hostel Officer and the Housing representatives. Students are provided with sufficient furniture in their rooms. They can practice their cultural, social and recreational activities in the Housing in accordance with the instructions issued by the Housing Section.
The Housing Assistants are responsible for the overall monitoring of the hostels.
