Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the Petroleum Institute (PI) celebrated its 6th Annual Commencement in the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi on Saturday January 14, 2012.
The commencement ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince’s Court, and a number of dignitaries, as well as the graduates’ family and friends. The event witnessed the graduation of 186 male and female engineers and scientists, with over 67% of the graduates being UAE nationals.

Of the cohort, 167 were undergraduate students (107 males and 60 females) and 19 were graduate students (16 males and 3 females). These graduates will join some 500 alumni from the previous five years, all of whom are currently contributing to the oil and gas sector in Abu Dhabi Emirate.
Earlier in the day, the PI’s Alumni Office held a luncheon in honor of the graduating class. The event was an opportunity to induct the new graduates into their respective alumni associations. Each alumna and alumnus was presented with a class ring. PI’s Senior Management and the Chairs of the various academic programs were on hand to welcome and congratulate their recent graduates.

Congratulations Class of 2011!
